Creating and using training plans
Training plans help you structure your dog’s agility development into focused, repeatable programs. Whether you’re working on weave pole entries or building contact confidence, a good plan keeps sessions purposeful and progress visible.
Creating a template
A template is your reusable blueprint for a training program. You can assign it to one or more dogs later.
- Open Training Plans from the main menu.
- Tap “New Plan” to create a template.
- Give it a descriptive name that captures the goal — for example, “Weave pole consistency” or “Contact confidence”.
- Add topics to structure the plan into logical sections (e.g., “Foundation skills”, “Speed drills”).
- Add subtopics under topics for a finer breakdown of each area (premium).
- Add exercises under topics or subtopics with descriptions of what to work on in each session.
- Save the template — it’s now ready to assign to any of your dogs.
Templates live in your plan library and can be reused as many times as you need.
Assigning a plan to a dog
Once you have a template, you can create a dog-specific plan from it to start tracking progress.
- Open the template you want to use.
- Tap “Assign to Dog”.
- Select which dog from your profiles.
- The app creates an independent copy of the template as a dog-specific plan.
- Each dog gets their own copy — progress is tracked separately per dog.
You can assign the same template to multiple dogs. Each assigned plan is completely independent, so one dog’s progress never affects another’s.
Tracking completion
Premium feature — Completion tracking requires a Premium subscription.
As your dog works through an assigned plan, you can track which exercises are mastered and which still need attention.
- Open a dog’s assigned plan to see all exercises.
- Mark individual exercises as complete as your dog masters them.
- Link completed exercises to training diary sessions for a full record of when and how you trained each skill.
- View overall plan progress as a percentage to see how far along you are.
- Check which exercises are done and which remain at a glance.
Linking exercises to diary sessions gives you a complete training history — you can look back and see exactly what you worked on and when.
Sharing to the community library
Premium feature — Sharing plans requires a Premium subscription.
If you’ve built a training plan that works well, you can share it with other Agility Diary users.
- Open any template you’ve created.
- Tap “Share to Library” to submit it.
- Your plan is sent for review by our moderation team to ensure quality and appropriateness.
- Once approved, it becomes available for all premium users to browse and copy.
- You can update or withdraw shared plans at any time.
Shared plans display your profile name as the author, so the community knows who created them.
Browsing the community library
Premium feature — Browsing the community library requires a Premium subscription.
The community library is a collection of training plans shared by other Agility Diary users. It’s a great way to discover new training ideas and approaches.
- Open the Community Library from the Training Plans section.
- Browse plans shared by other users.
- Filter by topic or search by keyword to find plans relevant to your goals.
- Preview a plan’s structure before copying to see if it suits your needs.
- Tap “Copy to My Plans” to add it as a template you can then assign to your dogs.
Copied plans work just like templates you’ve created yourself — assign them to dogs, track progress, and adapt them to your training style.
